Calm Before The Storm
I'm not sure is this expression correct. But I thought it is damn obvious if a storm is coming: dark clouds, strong winds, no birds flying (think they scared got struck by lightning, also no crows kao beiing.), not to forget the occassional thunder and lightning strikes.
But humans don't behave that way. That's what I called "unpreditable".
Today I'm at the center of the storm. Between my boss and his subordinate.
"Darren, this thing have to rush, ok? You will have to do this, this, this, this, this..... not sure can ask ah seng. Ah seng! Come come!"
Ah seng stopped his work and come over.
"Ah seng ah, you have to do this, this, this, this.... urgent ah. Because this place is very untidy."
** A sidenote: Lemme give you some info. This company is very obsesse with cleaniness. Even I am freaked out by that.
After my boss had left, I was alone staring at the things I-had-to-do-but-I-don't-think-there-is-a-need-to-do.
Then ah seng came over and kao bei to me.
Yes, he was very tu lan, but he did not show it to the boss.
That's the sad part of being an employee.
I'm not in a good mood either.
Don't ask, for I won't entertain.
I came across an "article" that claimed how "pathetic" Singaporeans are. Here, http://www.geocities.com/hkhemlock/mus-sin.html
*** Approach with caution. Reading Hemlock's list on your computer may or may not constitute a crime. Go to the page, read and wait 5 minutes. If the police haven't arrived, you're safe.
At least I'm not in trouble, or I thought.
Heh... if you are scared, here are some of the excerpts.
2. The Singaporean people do not really have the fundamental right to make their own investments. The Singapore government forces people to hand over up to 40% of their net income, and it invests most of it as it sees fit. The government allows people to individually direct only a small part of these forced savings (mainly into non-voting shares in state-owned enterprises). The government tells Singaporeans how lucky they are to be allowed to choose to use their savings for education, home purchase, medical coverage, etc as if the money werent theirs in the first place. Pathetic.
5.Faced with such mismanagement, most people would complain. Not Singaporeans. Their government effectively controls the media and runs a highly effective PR campaign aimed at convincing the people the government is wonderful. Many sincerely believe it. Those who dont fall for it keep quiet, or wish they had. The few people who dare to speak out suffer reduced career prospects or even spurious legal action. Unlike Hongkongers, Singaporeans have no right, in practice, to walk down the street handing out anti-government leaflets and shouting anti-government slogans. It is a crime to speak in public without a permit. Pathetic.
That's all folks. Today, very tu lan. To hell with the cowards that think they can make it big by planting bombs.
