REUTERS- POPULAR WEBLOG "THE GOOD LIFE" IN LIMBO

After the terse announcement at the kududes Yahoo Groups Message Board by the leading contributor of the world famous weblog "The Good Life" at http://the-good-life.blogspot.com, known enigmatically as darren, that he would no longer be contributing to the blog 'due to various commitments and some problems', the weblog's email thegoodlife@gmail.com was inundated with a mix of concerned and outraged fans calling for a more detailed explanation from darren.

"The Good Life" has been mandatory daily reading material for fans all over the world. Over 5,000 fans claimed that they had set the weblog as their homepage in their Internet browsers, which is testimony to the committed and loyal fan base that "The Good Life" enjoys. The termination of "The Good Life" will be a great loss to the blogging world which now has to make do with less viable, middle-of-the-road fare like xiaxue.blogspot.com and mrbrown.com. One fan, on grounds of anonymity, even confided that the weblog had 'kept him going during the bleakest of times, and that life would definitely be worse for him now that his primary source of inspiration and entertainment had ceased'. Another avid follower more level-headedly opined that darren's actions could be a mere gimmick to trigger greater interest in the weblog, whose readership was said to be plateauing according to a recent survey by AC Neilsen. Such gimmicks are not uncommon and were often resorted to by the radio jockeys of Class 95FM's Morning Express Show, where the jockeys issued bogus announcements that their show would be axed in a bid to boost listenership.

darren is known for his series of inimitably honest, intimate views and witty snapshots of today's society seen from the eyes of an undergraduate who tries to make the best of the bad things around him, striving to live 'the good life'. He was also known for a new genre of weblog authorship now termed as 'fantasy blogging', where he would mix fantasy and reality in an almost indiscernible mixture which captured the imaginations of thousands all over the world. Some outstanding entries by darren which will remain memorable to most fans include "2046", the "Sex in the Lion City" series, the "Tom, Dick and Harry dialogues", the "Lee Wee Nam Library monologues" and the assorted entries on the nature of what he endearingly termed as 'hot babes'. Perhaps some of the 'problems' darren has mysteriously alluded to can be gleaned from his last, admittedly very cryptic entry perhaps filled with symbolism and neo-aesthetic literary frivolity titled "Chocalate Cookies" which he leaves thousands of unsatisfied fans with as his final word, where he expressed disappointment with a family member.
