Dot

Think I have out-grow this space.

Every time I spoke to her she would draw me to couch closer and closer to her face, until i was seized with an urge to just kiss her on her lips as she uttered words I could no longer pay attention to.

Victory fails to disguise shift in local power

By Tony Cascarino

PRIDE OF THE NORTH WEST? Still Liverpool as far as I am concerned. As they did against Chelsea, Manchester United have nicked a fortunate win against a superior team. Short-term elation for them, but for the long haul, Liverpool look a better bet to finish second come the end of the season. With their two matches in hand, they could rise above United sooner rather than later.

Rafael Benítez’s men will be pig sick at losing, especially in such a cruel way, but they should take comfort from the knowledge that they were better from back to front. Especially in the midfield, where Mohamed Sissoko, Steven Gerrard and Xabi Alonso ran the show. Committed, tough-tackling with a mean streak, they break up the play and ease the pressure on the defence. United’s midfield is nowhere near as effective.

It also struck me how tall Liverpool’s players are. That can only make the team more intimidating. Their only serious shortcoming is in attack, where Djibril Cissé simply does not cut it. It would help to have a nippy, tricky, clever foil for Peter Crouch.

This United team bear no comparison with the great sides from past years. They are resilient and hard-working, but those are givens for any half-decent side. Ruud van Nistelrooy had little impact and it is hard to see this group of players improving much because some of them, while young, are not good enough to become world-class. Liverpool, meanwhile, are still growing stronger.

Sir Alex Ferguson should feel pleased with his defence, though. They did a convincing impression of the Newcastle United back four against Manchester City a week earlier, but yesterday they looked a tight and organised unit. Patrice Evra is neat and tidy and did better than against City, but his lack of height will expose him against teams with natural wingers who send over a lot of cross-field balls.

Rio Ferdinand’s goal was his third of the season — and the third of his United career. He should score more. He is tall and agile, but he is a rare scorer because of attitude rather than ability. He is not a Steve Bruce type, the sort of central defender who is willing to put his face in among the flying boots — maybe you get the winning goal, but maybe you end up with stitches or a broken nose. He could use a few lessons from John Terry on how to be a more aggressive header.

Even if Ferdinand developed into a ten-goals-a-season man, it would not be enough to mask United’s limitations. Yes, United won, but they used to go farther. They would win, and they would dominate. But no more.

Chest Thumping Fist Waving (Updated)

Nothing without competition.

A challenge has been issued. It's up to me grab it by the neck. (Rest assured I will, asshole.)

I Want Competition

Goodbye to recreation soccer for now. That may be a good thing, considering how things are going at the moment. There is no more drive in playing well at the moment.

So what is good? Competition is good. I want to fight for my place, I want to fight for a reason. I want to feel the sweat and adreline pumping in my body. I want to test my body to the limit. I have to know what I want. I am not afraid to admit I am very fustrated at the moment. Maybe that is even an understatement.

Speaking of competition, the PAP had fired the first salvo, claiming the Workers' Party had plant 'timebombs' in the society after they had revealed their manifesto. Ok, so it is a lousy proposal, according to the PAP. And a dangerous one too. Dangerous to the point that our society may collapse if they are implemented.

After reading through the Workers' Party manifesto, I have to admit some of them are 'ridiculous'. But nevertheless, the gahmen had set the ball rolling. It will be interesting to see what happens next.

As I said, I want competition. And no stupid tricks.

When The Going Gets Tough, The Most Commited Wins

Sometimes you have to keep on breathing to realise that you are still alive. Breathe, just breathe.

But how do I enjoy the air when countries threatened each other with nuclear attacks? France just did that, it threatens to attack 'terrorist' states with nuclear weapon. USA always, though did not openly said it, China nearly did it, India and Pakistan are always at each other's throat, and they have nuclear weapons, and now Iran and North Korea want to join the party too.

Wooohooo! Let's rock!

In order to be strong, not only one has to possess the correct attitude, good mental strength, to name a few, he also should have his lucky break too. Yah, superheroes will have good luck too.

Angry Weekend

Look who is angry. I am angry.

What the fuck. The referee deserves a red card too.

Friday angry. Saturday oso angry. Sunday too tired to be angry.

I ask LH to rate me out of 10. "4," he said. I have to restrain myself from banging the table.

Ah Quan said rumours that the recruitment had started. But where is my interview letter? Did they miss me out?

Anthony Wong: do you still want to be a policeman?

Silence....

Shawn Yue: Can I still be a policeman?

The music starts...

Sunny side finally

Today when I woke up and opened my door, sunshine hits my face. I nearly forgot how it feels.

Jia you! You go gal! No money to go her concert. Maybe wait for her concert cd.

I am still disillusioned. I can't figure out my way of life. I am angry with myself. But I believe one day I will find it. But not today.

Humour Me

Did I mention everybody is crazy?

Highlight of the day. During a lecture..

The lecturer stops talking and look up. A 10 second silence continues..

Lecturer: So did you all follow what I said? Are you lost?

Another 10 seconds of eerie silence.

Lecturer: C'mon, you all can do it.

.......

And I thought only crazy sports people will say that.

During lunch..

R: The lecture is at 1630 lor. Maybe you will want to see the lecturer. You know where is it not?

(Thinking for a while) Me:Yah.. I think I know where is it.

Me: What.. maybe I don't know. Where is it?

R: Eh.. I also don't know. Cannot remember.

Am I too sensitive?

Maybe We Got A Problem

Have you tried to do something, although you put in effort, but still screw it up in the end?

Do you think your gahmen is efficient?

Do you think the weather nowadays are natural circumstances or man-made?

Do you think everyone is crazy?

Don't worry! You are not alone! Let me ask my friend to help you.

It's hard to make things right. Seems like I'm living on borrowed time. After my left ankle recovered, my right ankle breaks down again. Yeee.... so scary..

A CNA poll asks "After the successful completion of Singapore's biggest civil emergency drill, the government said the next exercise could be held during peak travel hours. How would you react if you were caught in such an exercise?". 25% said they will be upset and complain.

A news from CNA also said "Man with disability fined $400 for parking car in disabled lot". A case of double standard? You go read it up and decide bah. People nowadays really have a sense of humour. Or are they crazy?

3 mynahs sticking together.

The best of friends. BY's magical number: 3.

Raining Days Ahead

Cold, wet, moody. These sum up my mood for the past 3 days.

Hanging for dear life..

Sharing an umbrella.. support in difficult times.

Braving the dangers alone, wants to make a dash for it?

Rain or shine, I will smile. Hmmmm... does it rhymes?

Public Transport

Dong dong dong chiang dong dong dong chiang!

Yah! Buangkok station opening! The gahmen is listening to the people. The Transport ministry is doing their job!

"To gear up for the station's grand opening, some of the works being done include ensuring the turnstiles are in order, that the air conditioners are working efficiently, and the floor and walls are spotlessly clean.

The announcement to open Buangkok MRT station was made earlier this year, reversing an earlier decision for the station to remain closed as there were not enough residents within 400 metre radius of the station needed to justify its opening." -CNA

Lan jiao.

What is a public transport?

It is a service that aims to provide transport to the public right?

From my limited knowledge from the Economics module from JC, even if the particular route is not profitable, there should also be public transport provided by the relevant sector. And I think Buankok is not that ulu right.. That's the problem of letting a profit-driven company taking part in the transport system.

And isn't there a Woodleigh station too? Where is that place? Might as well build one in Pulau Ubin or even Tekong, so that NS men don't need to take ferries across the sea.

Views From The Kopitiam- About Degrees

Extracts:
JH: How come the ah tiongs so clever ah. Today I tried to be like them and do my tutorials but cannot leh. We are all humans why they are different?

LH: Wah lau, how to compare? Maybe they got talents leh?

AX: They had come from so far to sudy here, so they are more focus lah. And many did not have many outside commitments, unlike some of us.

JH: Eh like that how to fight? I just want to get average results leh, but these people are spoiling the market.

LH: What? You just want to get average results? Then you study for what?

JH: I just want to get a degree.

I immediately exchange a high-five with him. Finally, there is one guy who thinks like me. Or about the same.

I did try to read and understand the lectures. I did attempt the tutorials. BUT. But, they make no sense to me. Having doing part-time jobs for my father, and an attachment outside NTU, I realised (Although I have to admit, the realisation came long time ago.) that what I am studying now had no bearings to whatever I'm doing in future. UNLESS. Unless, if I lost my mind and went to research sector where maybe some of the formulaes I'm struggling to understand now will come into use.

Then why I'm doing what I'm doing now? For that piece of worthless but important paper lor. What else you tell me?

It started on Friday night. Start stop, the rain continues on Saturday, then the whole day on Sunday. The weather gives no face to anybody, not even MM Lee, who are invited for the opening ceremony at Chinatown. Not even the people doing the emergency exercise codename NorthStar V are spared.

Lesson: Nature is still the king. Disrespect them at your peril.

Word of the Day

shituation [SHEET-chew-way-shearn] (noun)

Meaning: a shitty situation; a fix.

Usage: Once he realised he had forgotten to take his drugs test, Rio Ferdinand realised he was in a huge shituation.

"Oh shit!"

Deaf

Shit.. the phone is ringing.. (Braces myself, and engage the caller.)

Me (as loudly as possible): Hello?

Silence..

Me (as loudly as possible): Halo! Halo! Can you hear me?

The others: Hello?

Me (as loudly as possible): Yah what's up, can you hear me?

The others: Hello?

Damn it.

Self- Sacrifice

"Defence Minister Teo Chee Hean has said that the late Second Sergeant Ong Jia Hui was one of the finest troopers to have volunteered to put their lives on line to protect Singaporeans.
The 24-year-old drowned during special operations training off Changi Naval Base." - CNA

Dad still baffled at son's drowning during training"- The Straits Times Dec 30, 2005

Another sad happening. Soldier died during training.

The personals from the Armed forces, Civil Defence, Police are all unsung heroes. While big fucks hog the limelights during media interviews or decision makings, it's the 'men' that are slogging out in the training.

Everyone must appreciate their efforts in keeping Singapore safe.

Fund Rising

My current handphone is giving lotsa problems. But why haven't I change it?

Correct!

Money no enough!

Irritating as can be, I can't do anything unless I have c.a.s.h. I don't have. So how? Lets start a fund rising shall we? Donate-a-dollar-to-darren fund. C'mon, share your heart!

I don't have golden tap in my house, and needless to say, my allowance per month is peanuts! I don't have big sponsors coming to me to give out prizes for lucky draws to those who donated to me (In short, no cars to be won, no cash to be claim!).

I can't do dangerous stunts either. I can't stand on lightbulbs or eggs, can't dance on nails, can't pull a car with my thin little skin.

And my reserves in the bank can only last me for 1 week.

I am in this mess 'cos the auditors (that is, my brain) fail to access my financial situation correctly. Blame my brain!

Anyway, feel free to donate to Donate-a-dollar-to-darren fund. I won't waste them foolishly. I just want to eat char kway tiao.

Thank you in advance.

Hmmm

The Marriage Train by Dr James Dobson

Do you ever feel like you just don't love your spouse anymore? Well, welcome to the club. The fact is, love is not dependent on our feelings and emotions. The fact is feelings come and go. None of us always feels intensely romantic and loving toward our spouse. In a genuine love relationship, there are times of closeness and caring, but there are also times of distance and disinterest. And worst of all, there are times of apathy when a couple feels nothing at all. Emotions are very unstable. They are just ephemeral. And you can't build anything so permanent on something so shaky. So where does the stability in marriage come from? How can we weather the vicissitudes of everyday life?

Well, the key to a lifelong love is found in a commitment of the will, which is like the engine on a train. It'll keep you moving down the right track. But feelings are like the caboose, being pulled along by the powerful engine at the other end. Once you make up your mind to have a successful marriage, no matter what, you'll no longer be shaken by the ebb and flow of emotions. Which end of the train is pulling your marital relationship? It's a question worth pondering.

2.0.0.6

Wah lau eh.... 2006 already? That's fast. It's a case of blink-and-you-will-miss-it, a remark from a sports commentator about Steven Reid's goal.

It couldn't get better when Man Utd turned the tables on Bolton. What party at where? Nay nay... there should be only one place when Man Utd plays a match- in front of the tv screen.

Ronaldo tormenting the defender before pulling the trigger.

Once condemned by me, the young portugese had improved slightly on his overall play recently, and I have to say I'm delighted. Young? The fact that I'm 4 years older than him leave a sour taste in me. Why do people have the oppourtunity to pursue what they love, excel in it, and earn, wow, big money? I don't know. But I will try not to be jealous lah.

The others. Khoo looks uninterested in the Man Utd match 'cos Arsenal had to settle for a 0:0 score with Aston Villa.

Supper, or breakfast? at Newton Circus. BY pulled a stunt again by stretching his $4 to the maximum, but with khoo's help. And the hawker was also in a festive mood by giving the two of them free 2 bowls of rice. Nice.

It goes something like this:
Someone: The circle is getting smaller..
Khoo: Just nice what. 6 people, 6 chairs. If not we will fret where to sit.
Caitao: Everybody has a right to vote one people off. Ah xiang and CS had exercise this right liao.
Ah xiang:......
And the conversattion goes on to our names-laughing session and recalling-who-wears-what-number-for-our-famed-blue-jerseys.

With BY and caitao leaving for China in Feb, the circle indeed will become smaller. Who will leave? Who will come? 2006 will slowly reveals the answers...
