My Good Life

I went to Yahoo homepage and typed 'the good life'.

I can't find my blog address. Guessed that my blog is not as popular as I thought.

..... damn it.......

The Pleasures Of Being Annonymous

Yah I know how it feels being 'behind the mask'. There is this sort of cheap thrill. I also got post some comments based on my nicknames. In short, one can feel safe without fear of being exposed. There are a few annonymous players on the comments link and tag board in this blog too, and I really don't know who they are. But nevermind..... just as long as you guys don't cross the limits..

Here is a classic one:

NUS guy: u must be very pretty.

Er… if you say so. But cheeky prefer to be called yan dao.
Rachel: Ok lah. You leh? Must be very handsome right?

NUS guy: Hmmm… my female classmates did say I resemble Daniel Wu a lot. I don’t know lah. I think I resemble Tony Leung more.

Someone please pass cheeky a bag. He needs to puke.
Rachel: So are u on a look out for a new girlfriend?

NUS guy: I don’t think there’s a need. I think I have found one right in you.

Make that bag a large one.
Rachel: haha, u are a smooth talker.

NUS guy: Gift of the gab is just one of my many virtues u know. If you don't mind, can I know your vital statistic.

Sure. It's 11 inches in length.

Chapter 1 : The Red Moon

Chapter 1

High up the sky hanged the lonely moon. It was red.

Daniel, with a sigh, looked away from the depressing sight. He flicked away the spent cigarette and stepped into the noisy clubhouse.

Looking around, Daniel managed to steal a quiet spot at one corner and started to observe the crowd. Clubbers shaking to the blaring music. Smoke filled the room. Neon lights flashing until one can feel a bit dizzy. He could spot two men trying to take advantage of a woman who was left wasted after countless rounds of vodka. He wondered why there were people who actually enjoyed being in such a lousy and dangerous environment.

Someone caught his attention. He returned the gaze. Four tables away from him, there was this hot woman eyeing him lustfully. Clad in a leather top and mini-skirt, her full figure threatened to spill over. Daniel continued to keep their eye contacts, scrutinising the woman from top to bottom. A drunkard man trying to make his move on her, but she pushed him away.

With a weary smile, Daniel got up from his seat and moved towards the hot babe. A blonde, long legs and vampish looks, this woman could fell any guys she want, Daniel thought. You are mine now.

Not bothering to sit down, Daniel glanced at her and said:"What do you want?" Letting out a chilling laugh, she hissed:"I want you at the man's washroom now..." With that she got up and swayed her way through the crowd. Good. Very good.

Daniel closed the door silently. The washroom was empty. Except at the last cubicle. He could hear a low mourn as he walked closer towards it. Face to face was the woman in a come-get-me pose. Very tempting. Seeing that he was just standing there motionlessly, she lurged forward, grabbed him and started to lick him all over. Finished? Now is my turn. With a smile, Daniel flunged the woman against the wall. The woman was angry now and snarled at him. With a swift movement, Daniel took out his pistol and sent a silver bullet to her forehead. One down, many more to go.

Daniel walked out of the washroom as if nothing happen. At the position where he had shot the woman layed a heap of ashes.

Once outside the clubhouse, Daniel looked up to the moon again. Still red. Taking a deep breathe, he slipped into the shadow of darkness.

Some Greenery For Your Room

Hey dude.... check out this website : http://www.tillandsiabiotope.com.

Got lots of interesting plants to beautify your place.

Westerners Are King?

"Welcome welcome! What would you like for a drink?"

Well maybe because there were not much patrons in the pub that's why we got the first-minute-serve. Then the waitor continued by suggesting the Happy Hour drink, which suited our decisions. I must say the pub really have a weird taste of choice for their songs which they played.

Then the western couple in front of us decided to leave. The boss went up to them, said a lot of 'thank you very much!' and 'please come again!' which really made my eye-brow raised. Too friendly for my liking. Well... of course, being the friendly westerners, the couples also responded to the 'friendly-outburst' in an appropraite way (I always think that westerners are more friendly and outspoken than Asians, which make them approachable). Anyway... back to the boss. Maybe that's they way the pub do business -- friendly to their costumers and make them feel at home. Or is it only the westerners?

I had heard a lot of stories that reveals the double standards practised by eateries in Singapore. They suck up to the westerners but shun the locals. For example the Brazil Churrascaria restaurant in Sixth Ave, and also the infamous Ritz-Carlton Millenia Hotel.

I am waiting for this fella to do the same. But he caught me by surprise.

Seeing us taking photos in the pub.... he quickly volunteered his service. He helped us to take a group photo. Plus 1 point.

Then a waiter handed us a plate of camel nuts which we didn't order or demand. Maybe it's part of the package. Anyway, plus another point.

Throughout the stay, the waiters are polite to other patrons. And they also respect our privay by not asking us to buy another round of drinks, which some other pubs do. Ok... add 1 point.

When I went up to pay the money, the cashier accept my money with two hands. Wooo.... add 1 point again.

Then the boss dished out his killing blow. 'Thank you very much and do come again!' followed by 'Happy New Year, Gong Xi Fa Cai!'. Cool..... add 2 points.

So, with +6 points with no deductions... this pub seems to be a model pub for others to follow. Maybe today is my lucky day that I encounter a good pub experience. So here I will help to advertise the pub for free. Wait... I didn't remember the pub name... damn...... ok.. I know it is near Chinatown Point. Inside one of it's narrow street. Looks like a chinese Inn from the outside. And plays some weird chinese songs. To the boss: Keep up the good work!

So far I haven't met any lousy-to-the-core pubs or restaurants. Well better not..... 'cos I will definitely write it down here and spread the word to my friends to boycott you. I will make sure you suffer losses. Be sure to treat all costumers equally, with respect. Show discriminations and I will squeeze your balls.

Guan Yu VS The Rest

Why Guan Yu is more popular than Zhao Yun? Zhao Yun did not lose to Guan Yu in terms of looks, wisdom and bravery. And somemore Zhao Yun is Zhuge Liang's fav aide.

Then why there are only Guan Yu's potraits but no Zhao Yun's one? I'm baffled.

Yah.... not to forget all time fav Bruce Lee. I seemed not able to find posters or sorts of about him leh.. so sad. Maybe that's what people are saying that if you can get what you want easily, then you won't treasure it.

Wah lau.... so troublesome.

UFO Sighting

It was reported that an Unidentified Flying Object (UFO) was spotted at Boon Lay area.... around NTU.

Residents around the area noted disturbances with the wireless products, like handphones and laptops. Some people also seemed to behave in strange manners, for example praying to the moon and eating grasses. When questioned, those involved had no idea what they were doing.

In NTU:
Students said that some of their friends were behaving strangely too. Some students were seen meditating in the library, which certainly irritated some other library users. Others were seen hugging trees and crying their heart out. One student was reported burning his lecture notes and tutorials.

The credibility of those reports are still waiting to be verified.

Constatine

The moon was red last night.

Very beautiful, but with a scary ominous feeling.

Where the hell do you see a red moon? On a movie? And the movie always descript the scene as evil and there will be bad things happening right?

Hoho.... so there were lots of evil last night.

It sets me wondering...... is the world ok? Looking around... seeing how wars and natural disasters wrecking havoc on earth, I shuddered.

The wager between Heaven and Hell is on Earth.

Wooo..... sounds serious.

Again.... is there anything wrong with Earth? What say you?

Scientists claimed that the greenhouse effects on Earth is more damaging than expected. Some even go on to say that if the problem is not controlled, global warming will pass a point of no return.

More shudders.

Haiyooo... why I have to born at this time? Wuahahah!! Maybe I'm the destined keyholder. The one who holds the key to the door that kept all the solutions to the problems on the Earth.

But don't come looking for me yet. I'm currently busy with my tutorials. And quizes are coming up. So I'm not available at the moment.

In the meantime though, you earthlings should do your best to protect the Mother Earth from the Dark Forces.

The Problem Is Attitude

Humans are fickle-minded isn't it?

I thought I have resolved the issues... but seconds thoughts crept into my mind and threatened to blow them to bits.

Once you thought you were on the right track, but after several setbacks you were not that sure anymore.

I thought I'm strong..... but actually opposite.

Aiyoh.... can someone really bring me back to the correct path?

Maybe there is no correct path. One thing have to take note is that you should not regret the path that you had taken.

Ok... point taken. So where should I go on from here? Well..... I guess the way is to go forward.

COURAGE -- Courage is resistance to fear. Master of fear. Not absence of fear.

OPTIMISM -- People who attempt the difficult often obtain the impossible.

Live strong.

Old Trafford Faithful Feeling The Blues

The first thing I do after I woke up is to on the Internet and visit soccernet.

First reaction: I rolled my eyes and said :"Arghh.... what the hell........".

I Had A Dream

I had a dream last night.

And it's still wandering in my mind.

No... not that kind of dream... (-_-)"

It is strange that I can't remember who are the supporting actors and actresses in my dream... but one thing very clear is that I am the lead actor.

People said that if a person is obsessed with something and keeps on thinking about it, that person will continue to think about it sub-consciously during his sleep and that's when a dream appears.

Ok... let me stressed again.. it is not that kind of dream.

However..... that dream really pumps me up (Don't give me that kind of look can.....). If I can really achieve that kind of 'level', I can become invincible.

Wuahahaha!!!

It is really a wonder how a tiny dream can moltivate me.

Enough of my rumblings. Time to sleep again. Maybe I will have a dream again. Suddenly... with no apparent reason, NTU looks llike a breeding ground for those Urak-Hais in Lord Of The Rings. The North and South spines are the Two Towers..... and Saruman is always hiding in the glass tower. Everyday orgcs and Urak-Hai patrol along the Two Towers. Every year loads of Urak-Hais are created and soon a huge army will be assembled. The Battle of the Middle Earth will commence. But unknown to Saruman... the dudes from the Fellowship have already infiltrate into the Two Towers. In the disguise of the Brotherhood, a hobbit, an elf, a human and a magician are already in the Two Towers... ready to execute the final blow to destroy the Two Towers. Watch this space for their 'live' stories........

Tecko and CS, if you are reading this right now..... good morning to you.

A Letter To The Brotherhood

Dear Brothers,

Peace and world peace unto you!

The winds howled, the seas roared and the mountains moved!

These are trying times my brothers, but take faith! Be strong and have hope.

One of our beloved brother, khooster, had been restless recently. Stuck in an unfamiliar surrounding and with not much support, he needs our precious help right now!

Offer him some motherly love by chatting up to him... sending him postcards and pictures.... play online games with him!

Feel free to engage him... as he semed quite free over there. Give him the support and confidence. Let him know that the Brotherhood will not forsake him. Once in the Brotherhood.... always a Brotherhood!

My prayers with you.

Amen.

*** Yah lah... as nikki said he seemed quite lonely lah. Heard that you guys got talked to him through an online program with the mike? Good good.... I'm thinking of making a survival kit for him. Feel free to drop by any ideas. We will send to him through DHL or UPS bah.

Beautiful Eyes

Never had I expected to meet you here.

I was busy walking, and you were busy talking on the phone.

Our eyes temporary met.... and behold!!!

Such beautiful eyes.

They seemed to speak to me.

Though we were standing at a distance, your beautiful eyes were able to bridge the gap and allowed us to draw nearer.

How I wished to meet you earlier!

Oh such beautiful eyes!

Sercurity Has Been Compromised

That was fast.

Very fast.

My mother put out a stack of newspaper.... about 50 cm high, on the cabinet outside the apartment. It was gone in 1 hour. What the hell.... I thought I can sell them to the garang guni man for at least 80c so that I can buy a newspaper to read. Argh... disgusting thief. Sneaky thief.

Maybe I should install a CCTV outside the house.

Or get a watchdog?

The issue of getting a dog is very troublesome. Everytime I brought it up.... it is quickly shot down by my mother. Think she is a sharp shooter man.

Anyway..... wondering how is everyone. Though it's a long weekend the rest of the dudes didn't even meet up. What's up with the rest. Especially tecko... hope you guys are doing fine.

Hot Stuffs At Chinatown!!!

Check him out. Posted by Hello

SINGAPORE: German frankfurters have descended on Chinatown! Clad in traditional Chinese costume and swinging to blasting Latin music, Erich Sollbock and his German frankfurters stall in Chinatown bazaar stand out among others which offer the usual Lunar New Year fanfare.

I watched the news which feature this dude... and I'm impressed! I thought he is quite funnie too... wriggling his body to the funky music he was playing. And those sausages looked tempting.

People are often scared to try different things. Not to mention do things alone. They scared others will gossip... or will look at them differently. Hey who had imagined that there will be some foreigner selling foreign stuffs at our good old Chinatown? But people are amused and even like this refreshing approach.

Well.... maybe this guy is lucky and succeed. If he had failed... some will say that because he had 'defiled the spirit of Chainatown'? Haha... a bit lame and extreme.... but I feel that it is never a mistake if one dares to try new things and 'stray' from the mainstreams. Lessons won't be learned if no mistakes are made right?

Lets not say in business terms. It's the same in life. 'Hey I'm not supposed to do that 'cos others will say bad things about me' or 'This nobody is doing it so I'm not as I don't want to be the first one'. Ok... opinions will be valued, but when you feel that this is the correct step to take, go for it. Don't wait for others to give you the 'green light' or the opportunites may slip and never come back.

If you are afraid to fall, you might as well don't walk.

PARIS : The Louvre will likely be used for the film version of the best-selling US novel "The Da Vinci Code" which is to be made this year starring Tom Hanks, the director of the famous Paris museum, Henri Loyrette, said Friday. French officials were awaiting script details and storyboard images before giving final approval.

I am waiting for that movie in great anticipation. But before I go and watch it... maybe I will buy the VCD 'The Passion Of Christ' and watch first.

Lampard named England's best

Source:
http://soccernet.espn.go.com/headlinenews?id=322405&cc=4716
Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard has emerged as the overwhelming choice for England fans' player of 2004, beating Wayne Rooney into second place.

The 26-year-old claimed 40 per cent of the vote, with Rooney behind on 16 per cent, while David Beckham and Michael Owen did not even feature in the top five.

Instead, Steven Gerrard was third, with Ashley Cole fourth and Shaun Wright-Phillips, who earned just three caps in the entire year, in fifth place.

Lampard told the Football Association's website, which organised the online poll: 'This award means a lot to me. 'I was surprised to hear I was in the lead because I was up against the likes of Wayne Rooney, but to win is great. It's an honour to have fans up and down the country think that highly of me.'

Lampard became an England regular during 2004, earning 13 caps and scoring six goals, while forging an impressive central midfield partnership with Gerrard.

Sven-Goran Eriksson declared: 'Congratulations to Frank, he's been playing brilliantly for England for a very long time.

'He's played nearly all the games for Chelsea for more than two years, and he is getting better and better.

'He defends well, he's a good tackler. He's good on the ball, passes well and scores goals. You can't ask for much more from a midfielder. He deserves it.'

  • Final standings:
  • 1 - Frank Lampard - 40 per cent
  • 2 - Wayne Rooney - 16 per cent
  • 3 - Steven Gerrard - 9.8 per cent
  • 4 - Ashley Cole - 9.4 per cent
  • 5 - Shaun Wright-Phillips - 7 per cent

We reap what we put in, maybe it is time for us who having been reaping from here to contribute back something. If u are one of those who constantly check here for any entertainment or enlightenment, maybe it is only fair if u could at one time or another contrbute back so as to keep it going.
Looks like everyone is bz with their own stuffs recently and wow it is only d third week only lei.
dunno how r everyone now? fine..
sometimes exam period is good in a sense tt u get to meet up with your frenz everyday..

When i took one step towards you, you stood still,
i stopped still and you drift away after a moment.
i kept advancing but the distance between us seems to remains the same.
Finally i stopped moving and you stopped looking.

This time i took a step and saw you inching forward,
i took another step and stop,
and i see you still looking.

Well.... you can't blame me for defecting from being a soccer fan to a tennis fan.

    Acting Busy

I am wondering.... with only one TV station but got so many actors, what are the rest of them doing during their 'very free' time?

    Somewhere at a local kopitiam...

Actor A: Wah lau.... sian.. no job offers at the moment. Is there any jobs available around?

Actress B (putting down the newspaper): Nope... unless you want to be a waiter at Dome or a dispatch rider... there are some vacancies.

Actor A gave her a disgusted look.

Actor C (munching a banana): Aiyah.... what to do? Merge then don't merge... then merge again. We got suay life lah.

Actress B: Like that how? I'm going to be broke!! Why I don't have big boobs like xxx?

Actor A: Hmm.... might as well make some negative news about us to raise our profiles... then people will come and look for us for their dramas and movies.

Actress B: Better not.. still remember xxx? She got into bad press recently and her career got froozen by MediaCorps.

Actor C: If that's the case.... I will go and join TV3 in Malaysia! I don't believe I can't make it big there!

Actor A: Yeee... I think you can join the Suria channel...

A banana skin fly towards Actor A's face.

    What's On TV?

    Nothing.

I tried to get myself distracted from my readings by switching on the TV. I even had a bowl of steaming magi mee in front of me.

But the TV programmes on TV sucks.

Kaoz.... when MediaCorps took over MediaWorks I knew it was over. The TV industry in Singapore is sinking into recession. Can you imagine only one player in the big industry? Not only it is a monopoly..... we TV viewers suffer as a lack of choice. Repeated dramas..... tasteless programmes.... not enough channels to watch do not satisfy demanding viewers like me!!!

Hey c'mon lah.. why not open up various channels for different types of programmes. For example different channels for Sports... Singapore programmes... Hong Kong... Taiwan.. Japan... Korea.... cultural... nature programmes.... in short.. like our dear SCV?

Can you tell me what's so difficult about that???

I'm getting bored and fed up with this situation. If things don't improve soon.... Singapore's TV industry will surely slip into oblivion...

After Monday's adventure... I felt easily tired today. So I decided to chill out at Can A. A strange decision? Not really.... as I ate my lunch with my friends and letting my eyes wondering around....

    Daylight Robbery

I had considered very hard and long.

I decided to skip the 2 lectures that I have today and join my platoonmates (big bird and snake eater) to go JB.

Well... it's only 2 lectures... and I longed to go JB to see see. Since my platoonmates going (they are currently working and on leave today) and they got transport... I say, why not?

Ok.. being the most lazy fellow... I slack at the passenger seat while my two friends occupied the front seats. Enjoying the scenery as we travelled... I didn't know that this trip will be an exciting one.

We stopped at a roadside restaurant to eat lunch. The place was not that crowded at that time. While walking along the carpark, a motorcycle zoomed past us and the pillion rider snatched at a lady's handbag who was in front of us. Lucky for her, she managed to hold on to her handbag and a scuffle followed.

Being a good Singaporean.... I immediately rushed forward to rescue the lady... despite big bird trying to hold me back. Hey... a hero must help anybody in distress right?

With a mighty kick, I knocked down the motorcycle.... sending the 2 robbers rolling. It was quite comical that I wanted to laugh. But the 2 robbers I'm-going-to-kill-you look made me decided that I better not laugh.

Yeah.... how can my brothers leave me in the lurch? snake eater with a war cry 'Kaneenah-Limpeh-going-to-lup-u-hor-le-see!' came rushing to my aid. big bird... the most kiasee among us (haha... sorry lah.. no offence) oso decided to show his fist.

Think the robbers scared of us lah. Abandoning their motorbikes.... ran into a nearby plantation.

Guessed we had thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, we decided not to give chase. The lady (malaysian) was very grateful of our help. You know what? She is the wife of the owner of the restaurant! Wuahahaha!!! We had a big and free lunch (No... we did not ask for it. She and her husband insisted that the meal was free.)

While eating... big bird said in a low voice:"Better eat fast and 'siam' quickly. Those robbers may be part of a gang... like the M-16 gang like that.. they may be back for revenge."

Although snake eater did not believe that story... we still eat quickly. Haii... the Singaporean mentality?

We thanked the owner for the meal and we continued our journey. Yah..... during the journey, we keeped looking back to see if our car was being trailed.. lucky the rest of the day went smoothly for us. Haha!! What an enjoyable day..

    Musings Of A Football Fan

After watching Dudek give Man Utd 3 points AGAIN, and after seeing Lionel Lewis excelling for Singapore, a thought crosses my mind:

    Liverpool should buy Lionel Lewis

    Lucky Bastard

    He had injuries all over.

His body crying out in pain.

His heart still weak after the great scare.

    But he had survived.

Lucky Bastard had lived to tell his story another day.

Lucky Bastard will make a comeback.

    Music To My Ears

I want to complain!!! (What else can you expect from a Singaporean?)

I thought Victoria Concert Hall is some classic place. Comfy seats... cool lpace to listen to some music.... spacious..

    But no.

First time to Victoria Concert Hall. First time listening some symphony band playing music (from NTU, call the what Syjorn 2005 like that... sorry I forgot).

The seats are not big enough to rest my head!So for 2 hours like that.... I am forced to slouch on the seat so that my neck can rest on top of the seat. And it doesn't help that I'm feeling tired. Fell asleep thrice. Not that the bands are playing badly. They played nice music... made me so relak that I sleep. Yah lah... I am no arty person that I enjoy this type of music. But bring on Linkin Park and I will jump with you man.... Then heard from emcee that Lee Boon Yang was there. But I didn't got a chance to see him. Ok... back to the seat topic, I hope the relevant people will do something about those seats.. Upgrade them can or not??

Anyway, I regret going (Okok.. not that the band was playing badly....), 'cos I miss the exciting Man Utd Liverpool match!! I am not sure why I am able to do that. But I am sure that this is a lesson learnt. If don't like it... don't do it. No point following the crowd but not happy. Right?

But still want to congratulate my fren for a successful concert.

Yeah... now feeling high as Man Utd had won (Sorry Teck....). Tomolo will be another big match--- Singapore vs Indonesia. I confirm will watch. But watching at home! ARGHHH!!! I want to go stadium! Who got extra tickets??!

    Invasion Of The Red Tide

    Sold out???

But I haven't buy the tickets yet!!

Looks like my chance of watching a home ground game live with a sold out crowd will not materialise.

    I am very sad leh.....

But then... ok lah. I will watch the game on TV lor. Save some money... then go Old Trafford to watch a Man Utd match! Woohoo!!!

    Go Singapore Go!!!

The owner of the xiaxue.blogspot.com is a real __________ .
    (Insert your description here)

    The Fishes And I

I wonder if my fishes in my tanks are happy.

I got two fish tanks. One is 'world class' standard.... the other is 'economy standard'. You see, I don't have enough money and energy to sustain two 'world class' standard fish tanks.

The gold fish live in the 'world class' fish tank. The tiger barbs live in the 'economy c'ass' fish tank. But I tell you... even the 'economy class' fish tank is nice to look at.

I feed them everyday religiously, visit them everyday, changed water every week... make the water habitat as close as to the wild life.... with all the artificial plants and nice rocks (the live plants are very troublesome 'cos they rot).

    But are they happy?

I don't know. They didin't tell me. Although they open and close their mouth all the time I can't catch what they were saying.

Today a tiger barb had died. These fishes are hardy man. I bought them in my first year Uni to put in my hostel. But I moved out and they moved with me. They survive the 'hellish' trip from NTU to my house. But they lived on till now. I'm amazed.

But the death of this fish makes me sad. I'm killing them?

    No.

I want to make them happy.

Because they dance for me every night.

    You Against Gravity

Ok... Vertical Marathon is here again. But I don't feel like climbing stairs.... I prefer to run.

Still haven't recover from the attack-of-the-blues..... now still moody. Hence I advise you not to piss me off. Be ultra sensitive if you are near me. Thank you very much.

Life in school is like a roller coaster.

There is this pretty boy in my lecture group. Marked the word pretty. Wears pink t shirts most of the time... blonde hair..... flawless face complexion.... hmmm...

Then there is this Adidas girl. Always wear Adidas shirt.

How can I miss out my fav pasttime? Babe watchin at Can A. Hey.... to those who are bored, can some to Can A. Find a good spot.... sit down and start counting how many hot babes have walked past you in the last half hour. Once you have pluck up enough balls.... can go and approach the one sitting at the left corner. Get her phone number and you can declare the mission a success.

Once I walked past NY Audi. There was an activity promoting some events. Saw a guy and a girl talking to each other with microphones.... And there were nobody around! Ok.. got a group of people nearby talking among themselves. But they were not listening to the emcees I think. I shivered. How did the two people managed to talk for so long in front of an invisible crowd. Then horrors of horror...

Emcee A: Hey that guy in blue shirt, why don't you come in here and see what we have got?(Then he started to walk towards him.)

Emcee B: Yah! C'mon now! Why wait? (Then she started to hop towards him.)

Shit man.... I decided to run.

    Tofu Man

I have a feeling that I am made up of tofu instead of flesh and blood.

Come and punch me if you don't believe it.

    Lost In Transition

Have you ever wonder why the Arrival Hall and Departure Hall are in the same building inside Changi Airport?

Today I know why. 'Cos I just sent a friend off, then I meet 4 long-lost friends. Surprise surprise!

The airport at that time was not like the one in movie The Terminal. More peaceful. Nevermind I like it that way. A peaceful place to chat, relak, eat fries, google at chio bu and whisper 'hot babes' to see if they can hear or not. Talking about supersonic ears.

I'm thinking..... maybe some of the 'things' that belongs to me have not arrived at the airport. No wonder there are so many things missing in my life. Hey Changi Airport dudes... better do your jobs man.. I'm still waiting....

While on my way home, I suddenly feel a bit lonely. Thank God got Jessie by my side...

    Saha's Defence

In order to have a better understanding of what Louis Saha had been going through, I aliase with MUTV and seeked permission from Sir Alex Ferguson to give Saha an interview.

Me: So, what are your feelings at the moment. Can you describe your second season at Man Utd?

Saha: The second season is not over yet. Yes, I admit that this season has been a disaster to me so far. I am quite disappointed that people are saying that I'm a 12.8 million pounds flop. I tried not to listen to this kind of criticism, but still it kind of affected my confidence.

    Me: Yes, go on...

Saha: Well, I have to believe in myself. I believe I can make it big in the Premier League. As you can see when I was at Fulham, I'm a proven goal scorer. I also scored a few when I came to Man Utd. But injuries hampered my progress towards the end. I really regret not resting during the World Cup qualifiers but went to play instead despite carrying an injury.

Me: So how is your injury at the moment?

Saha: Things are looking up, but still bad in my opinion. Because of my silly decision of not resting, I miss out the opening season. I longed to play for United again, but this time I don't know how long I will be out. I'm really gutted by not able to take part in normal trainings and sitting on the stands watching my team play. I wanted to be involve. But my injury hurts.

Me: That sounds bad. Any operation to be considered?

Saha: Not decided yet, cannot be confirmed.

Me: Hmm... if got operation then you will miss a lot of games! Including FA Cup, not to forget Champions League.

Saha: Yah, I'm really feeling down at the moment. I wanted to win my first medal with Man Utd.

Me: Ok, that will be all. Thanks for taking part in the interview. Hope you have a speedy recovery and great career at Man Utd.

    Saha: No problem. Thank you.

    A Shooting Star

Now I know how Saha feels at Manchester United at the moment.

The 12.8 million pounds price tag on his head must be making him very painful...

    Erm.... One Minute Silence?

I was walking along a busy street.

Suddenly some sirens sounded. Then followed by the sounds of bells...

I thought to myself... kaoz.. an air raid? I looked around. People are doing their normal stuffs. Walking..... ah pehs sitting on benches chatting... a family with their kids buying ice-creams from a vendor.... cars still zooming past the roads. Air raid your head.

I continue walking. I saw a friend of mine standing in front a shop selling TV sets. I went up to him and asked:" Yo... what you doing man?"

His answer made my eyes nearly popped out.

"I'm observing a one minute silence to the tsunami victims."

I don't know whether was he talking cock to me or what...

The TVs were braodcasting "Live" of the ceremony from Expo.

Hmmm... I realised that the alarms just now were there to signal the beginning of the one minute silence. Can I really do that on a busy street? I will ned a lot of courage to do that.

But I'm really concern about the refugees out there.

    How Big Are Your Balls?

Mine is getting bigger... judging by the length of cars I'm forced to cut nearly everday during jams... especially Tue and Fri.

Hey... why is this guy driving his car so close to the other one next to his lane? Got space or not? Can can... go!!! VrOOOM!!!

My balls shrinked whenever I'm being sandwiched in between 2 cars. They expanded when I had broke free from the jam.

Kaoz... everyday jam... ok I'm not complaining. The traffic here is still the best in SEA.. or one of the best in the world... but Mr government.. please don't anyhow raise road tax or ERP or coupon charges or petrol prices, 'cos I'm running low on cash at the moment. Don't forget you had just let the University raised their tuition fees.....

So how big are your balls?

Did you go and measure them?

In my opinion, it's not the size of your balls.... but what is inside them that matters.

Some Singaporeans really got quality balls.

After the tsunami disaster...... many people volunteered to go to the afected areas to provide aid... some even went there to look for their missing loved ones. If these people don't have balls... how to they managed to make this decision? From the news you have already seen many of the gory scenes... WILL YOU STILL GO IF YOU DON'T HAVE BALLS? What about the comforting beds you are sleeping now? Will you miss them? Good food? Clean air instead of smells of death? Fat pay cheques instead of dirty work? Pick your choice. See who got balls.

I'm in front of the ATM machine. It asked:"Please enter the amount you wish to donate."

I had told myself $X. But I keyed in $Y ($Y < $X). Why? Because I'm scared whether my money will actually went to the Red Cross not. What if they are lost in transition? Hey... this is my $X man... so I play safe. I keyed in $Y. I GOT NO BALLS. What is $X to me? To those refugees? The wise said:"You have no money when you are born, and you will not take any with you when you die." (Something like that lah)

Even everyday stuffs can reflect whether one has balls or not. For example.....

So does the class have any questions? Prof Hong asked.... John got a burning question in his mind. But nobody spoke. One minute passed. The Prof gave up and started packing. So see you next tutorial, he said and left.

Peter saw a lady dropped a $2 note on the floor while taking her keys out from her pocket. He wanted to call out to her... but she had walked away. He decided not to chase.

Kenny saw a man cutting the queue. There were other irritable faces... showing their displeasure.. but he decided not to speak up for fear of trouble.

Err... how many more? Got many many more! Ok lah... I'm not pointing my finger at you and said my balls are bigger than yours. But.... do what is right lah.. there is no harm. Maybe God will give credit to you when you meet Him in Heaven.

    T S U N A M I

Tsunami- yes, that is the password for this week. Today, every kid above the age of 10 should know how to spell it because we see the word everywhere. Today, for instance, the newspaper has devoted almost 20 pages to coverage on the tsunami.

First of all, I want to state that the idea of countries around the world coming together to help hand in hand in the relief efforts, in pledging donations, is very encouraging, and it is one of the few silver linings we can take from the unfortunate disaster. However, amidst the overwhelming coverage of the tsunami in almost every conceivable medium we come into contact with, some discouraging aspects have emerged:

    1. Countries pledging relief are treating it as some sort of a competition to outdo one another. Germany, seeing that Japan had pledged some 500 US million dollars, promptly proceeds to trump that figure. Germany is in turn trumped by Australia, who now head the list of top donors by country, pledging 764m USD.

    2. I cannot help but see the hidden intentions behind the donations from each country. Japan wants that permanent seat in the security council of the UN, hence its generous donation. Australia wants to become the big brother of Asia. PM Lee of Singapore wants to show he is no political greenhorn but a capable PM who can exert influence in ASEAN politics.

    3. In many past natural disasters, a lot of the aid pledged was not delivered in the end. Is it a case of all talk but no action? (ie. 2003 Bam earthquake in Iran- 1.1b USD pledged, 17m USD delivered; 1998 Hurricane Mitch in Central America- 9 billion USD pledged, 3 billion delivered.

    4. Some countries have been outrightly stingy, if I may be blunt. US donates 350m USD compared to Japan's 500m USD. China donates 60m USD. It's almost nonchalance. However, these two countries, along with many Middle Eastern states, have been criticised and subsequently pressured into upping their meagre donations. Peer pressure on an international level.

    5. There is talk that money pledged often falls into the hands of corrupt officials. India and Indonesia, for instance, are no strangers to corruption- their bureaucracies are notorious.

    6. Some relief workers allegedly agreed to help some disaster victims on the condition that the victims convert to their religion. Both relief workers of the Christian faith and the Muslim faith have been so accused.

    7. The disaster has also reopened religious discussion- If there was a god who was all powerful and kind, why would he allow such a thing to happen? Religious leaders of various faiths have promptly responded but some replies seemed dubious to me. (Note: This is purely my subjective opinion on what I know is a highly divisive issue.) For instance, one leader said it was one of the trials that the god wanted people to go through. Another said it was punishment for the immoral lifestyles led by the people of the region.

    8. A lot of the kindness and altruism for the tsunami disaster is a result of the widespread coverage the tragedy has received. I'm not saying it's a bad thing- by no means, but let's put things in perspective when we look at what has happened to other tragedies in the world when there has been little or no publicity.
    - 1976- An earthquake devastated Tianjin, China, killing at least 255,000 people. Some experts even think the death toll was 655,000. No relief on a worldwide scale was pledged because China was still having a closed-door policy back then.
    - 5.5k people die from malaria daily. 125k die of TB monthly, 2million kids below 5 die of cholera and dysentry yearly. This is hardly reflected in the news at all. 1k people die daily in the Congo due to civil strife.
    - Measles. 900k kids die yearly from measles. But the shocking thing is that a vaccination costs just 26 US cents per person, and this vaccination has been around for the last 30 years. But nothing is done about these 900k lives. To vaccinate all of them would have cost 234k USD, which is about the price of one five-room HDB unit in Tampines.
    Is the media coverage warped?

Just food for thought before we plonk that hundred dollars in for the relief efforts. Donate, yes, but if you care to donate do spare a thought for the other movements out there that need your dollar just as badly.

    Star Of The Night

I stepped into the posh restaurant.

    Cool..... POSH...

I don't know why I'm here. A beautiful music filled my ears and the ambience was fantastic.

Then someone waved at me.... bekoning me to go over.

I looked closer to see who is it.... guess?

    Sun Yan Zi.

    WOOHOOO!!!

I quickly walked over and sat down beside her.

She said that she heard that I had a motorbike and she would like to have the thrill of riding a bike. I told her no problem. We just sat there and talked for a long time.

Then I brought her to the carpark and showed her my bike. I gave her the helmet and tried to rave the engine... trying to impress her. And she was thrilled....

"C'mon... hope on!" I turned around and told her.

She looked at me with her beautiful eyes and gave me a cute nod of her head.

    Then I heard another voice...

"Ah boy.... wake up liao. Time to go to school......."

    Thursday, January 06, 2005

    Huh.... What Is This?

Went to some of the lectures.

The lecturers are talking in English, but...... I think their English is too chim for me.

The Lecturer set the exam papers. He taught the exams. He marked the papers. But... if a student got a different idea from the Lecturer... will the Lecturer be generous enough to consider the student's idea? ...... a conspiracy theory is brewing......

Hey... Ch 8... your airtime for RTTK is a bit late leh... 11 pm tp 1 am. I got lesson at 830 the next morning dude..

In order to keep the fire burning, ah boy will be scurrying around looking for firewood. But the problem is... those firewood are running out!!

After watching the tsunami tragedy, I think: where should I go from here?

Phew..... only after a few days in school I'm starting to have the blues..... I dreaded the feelings of the coming events... c'mon.. give me a slap to wake me up.

    Busy

Now I fully understand the meaning of busy.

Busy = no time to have your meals.

    Busy = cannot blog everyday.

Busy = cannot read soccernet everyday.

Busy = unable to go out to help out for charities.

Busy = have to do tutorials everyday.

    Busy = excuse?

Hmm... time management... the all-powerful word.

    But there is hope!!

Hope will be one of the key moltivator in a good life. To those out there who are feeling the blues, hope!! Do your best and hope. Will it works?

After spending so much time following the US pressie elections, I thought it was fitting that I took a political quiz to see where I really stand. It turns out that I am a Centrist, and my views are closer to that of the Democrats than the Republicans!
Anyway you can take the test at http://www.okcupid.com/politics

    My results:

    You are a

    Social Moderate
    (56% permissive)

    and an...

    Economic Liberal
    (38% permissive)

You are best described as a:

    Centrist

You exhibit a very well-developed sense of Right and Wrong and believe in economic fairness.

    He Took My French Fries!!

    It was recess time.

The canteen was full of people.

I queued up at my fav store.... Western Food. I wanted to have chicken chop for lunch.

After buying, I quickly find a place to sit down to enjoy my meal.

    Then he came.

    The irritating indian boy.

He was much bigger size then me. I was no match for him. He just came from behind and grab a handful of fries from my plate (a handful = nearly all.... left a few).

I could only watch him disappear into the crowd... laughing as he ran.

    Ok lah... enough of bullshit.

But today something happened. I just twisted the happenings a bit to make it VERY INTERESTING.

    Help help...

    First Day

    Yeah!!

Today is my first day of school for the new year. And I'm SO EXCITED!

So excited that I woke up 6 in the morning just to pack my textbooks into my new bag, sharpen all my pencils and put them into my new pencil case, comb my hair to my fav side parting... not a strand of hair is out of place, and sit by the door of my parent's bedroom to wait for them to wake up and bring me to my new school.

Yeah.... that's how excited I am!!!!

I can meet the legendary caring teachers..... those wonderful friends....... with fun filled lessons!

    YEAH!!

I look at my timetable. All my lessons are interesting and well spread out. I will definitely have an enjoyable semester.

I will luv every minute of it!! Woohooo!!!

I can't wait for the June hol.

    2046

    She had come.
She was even earlier than me, which was something of an anomaly. She had elevated dotted punctuality to an art-form, so the excess earliness seemed stark.
It was Cheswick Cafe once more, the same place with the same table with the same waiter at the same time. The comforts of familiarity were on our side.
I would gaze at her as I always did. I would stride to the table, fully in my element. I would smoothly nod as the waiter slid the chair out for me. I would slide into the chair with reassuring ease. I would smile at her as I tucked in the napkin. The pacifying routineness bolstered me. Yet, it was to be so similar and altogether too different.
"Hi" was just about the only words she managed to utter on the night as her lips curled into a mystery of a half-smile. Her eyes raised up to greet me as I stood, with the old twinkle. Those eyes dropped as I sat, and ran away from me.
"Hallo." I would allow none of the tentativeness I had anticipated in my greeting. Then I awaited the moment she would take her turn to speak, but I would wait for some time.
Her eyes. They faced mine, met mine, but yet they looked distressingly far away. My eyes pleaded with hers but they never responded. They were glazed. They were walled.
I slid myself into an empty chair that was to her right. That wall held still, for never an inch did those eyes even move. I helplessly raised a hand slowly in front of her eyes and twiddled the fingers distractingly, but there was nothing.
There she sat, like statued goddess, like the subject of an ancient painting at which I could only gawk as a passive art-lover. There she sat, beholden to herself. My discouraged hand drooped ashamedly.
It was only then I realised I might as well take the chance to take a good look at her. A first look in months, where I could look at her searchingly, knowing that I was not being watched in reply. So my eyes travelled freely.
From the top they would canter down. Her long, ash black curly hair. Her luscious lashes, peering out from those sparkly dreamy eyes. Her firm girly lips held fort for the half-smile. The satin cheeks, the swanned neck, and forbid, her lovely bosom. Indeed she was something of a little goddess. But the eyes, they would kill me, for they said nothing and yet said too much.
But yet I would not be rushed. I would take my time. I plonked my elbows on the table. It was socially unbefitting, but physically comfortable. My arms were upright and my left palm hugged my right, clutching as if to reassure the little boy in it. I rested my head on my hands, my lip was on my left thumb. Then I set myself to wait.
The waiter had been waiting by the tableside for an exasperating time. I had forgotten about the poor man. Hurriedly, I sent him away after ordering the usual- nothing but the finest pork ribs from St. Louis.

They say that there is a place where nothing changes. Everyone who went there had the same intention... to recapture their lost memories. It was said that there, nothing ever changed. Nobody knew for sure if it was true, because nobody who went there had ever come back.

    The Revival Of Singapore Soccer?

When I plonked myself in front of the TV set to watch Singapore VS Mynmar (I wonder how many Singaporeans did that), it is the 67th minute and Singapore is trailing 2-0..... the first word I said is WTF.

I thought it was all over for Singapore team.... and I had high hope for them. If not because I'm tied down to do some stuffs, I will definitely go and watch the game. EVEN IF I AM GOING ALONE AND BRAVE THE RAIN.

And the match is really dramatic.

    First a spectacular own goal.

    Then a red card.

    Then............

2 red cards plus a missed penalty.

    Then..............

    Singapore opened the floodgates.

    Then..............

There was really a riot going on down there. From the TV, I could see a dustbin being thrown from the section of Mynmar fans to the Singapore fans. Not to forget HALF FILLED WATER BOTTLES AND UMBRELLAS.

Kaoz..... I damn regret missing all the actions man. I missed out on joining the passionate fans. I missed out on watching Singapore team progressing to the Finals 'live'.

    Go Singapore go!

    The Evolution Theory

I can sense it, feel it in my body.

    My body is changing.

My brain is getting smarter. I can predict that it will rain in the morning and will refuse to get out from my bed.

I am growing bigger. My once-proud 6 tiny packs from my abs are intergrating into one big one.

My fingers will be able to move at the speed of light in 1 year time. All thanks to sitting in front of computer and TV and only exercising my fingers.

At this rate..... I predict that I can become the most-feared superhuman in 2 years time.

Then I can rule the world liao..

    Wuahahaha!!!

And The Wheel Goes Round And Round

Think this sentence is from the novel 'Village by the sea'.

    Sim Wong Hoo's $500,000 vs Wee Cho Yaw's $200,000 vs grp of 12 friends' $200,000 (today's ST).

Large Coperations not doing enough to help the tsunami victims.

United States stingy in their aid reliefs.

People critical about calls from agencies to donate cash instead of in-kind donations.

Donars wary of their donations being siphoned off into despicable individual's pockets.

Let's stop the blame game can?

As long as others need help, we will help. Don't stop. Don't compare. Don't pass judgement. As I said previously, it's not what others do.... but what YOU will do to make 2005 a better year.

    SATLC

I never thought i could get so lucky.

She came up to me, swaying her hips, fire burning in her eyes. I immediately knew what she wanted. And people say "if you know what a person wants, you can control her'.

    'A fortune teller?'

AH....exotic. Never tried that one before. One night stand with a mysterious and charming fortune teller on New Year's Eve! Nothing could be more tempting than that for a man out for some dirty fun. Out for some time away from the mad world.

Whether she reads the palm or the crystal ball, it doesn't matter. Who cares if she's really a fortune teller. Role-playing is most played game today.

First rule of the game: Stick to your role.

If you believe, then she is. And if it makes you happy, then believe. The whole package she offered was irresistible.

Knowing what she wants. I steered her, slowly and almot too easily, all the way into the bedroom.

While we were in the heat of passion, I asked her.

"You've read me all. Tell me about my future. Like 10 years from now" After all, it's the New Year's Eve.

    "Your future is bleak"

I stopped and stared at her. I was supposed to be in control.

"Don't worry" She replied almost reassuringly, the fire in her eyes turned purple, her body turned cold.

"You won't be alive then," she continued. I was immobilized by her sudden coldness. The mysterious charm that drawn me to her was becoming frightening.

    "I have AIDS."

She broke the first rule of the game.

Well, like i said 'If you believe, then she is'. I don't. We continued making love like nothing has been said.

I told you I got lucky.

    Bye 2004, Hi 2005

The world quietly welcomed the new year. Celebrations scaled down or cancelled, as a mark of respect and understanding to the victims around the region.

As I'm comfortably sitting inside my cozy room despite the rain outside, I can't help but think of those homeless. Hey people..... count your blessings.

    2004 a year to forget?

Quite a disaster-hit year. Hurricanes and storms hit US in earlier part of the year, floods in China, scandals in United Nations, violence in Africa, unstability in Middle East, racism in Europe, and how to forget United States' stupid decision to bring war to Iraq?

But there are also some wonderful moments for me. The Sun is still shining, the air is still quite fresh, there is still a roof over my head, and I got money to spend. What about the world. I don't know. My definations of wonderful may be different from others. A report said that Nigerians are the happiest people on Earth. What is their defination of happiness? They don't have as many money as I have, most of them don't go to school, many of them don't have such a comfortable room as mine... so what makes them happy? Are you happy?

Ok, anyway, will 2005 be more rosier? Don't put much hope on it. But still, no matter what happens, we must stick together and pull through together. The disaster area around the region is far from over. The threat of epidemic is looming. The world's stability will still be as shaky as ever. But.......

    There will always be hope.

So what is 2004 to me? It's an indifferent year I guess.

In the meantime, I also have a few things to settle man. Attitude. My attitude sucks man. I want to think critically. I want to be original. I want to speak out. I want to challenge the norms.

Lets say.... not what others will do, but what YOU will do in the new year to make it a better year than 2004.

I also want to go on a trip. Mongolia beckons. It's expensive. But it will be an eye-opener for me. I'm working on it.

So..... I think it's too early to predict 2005. But let us work towards making it a good year.
